How and Where to Watch: Senegal vs Egypt at AFCON 2025 Semifinals on beIN SPORTS
Two giants collide with a place in the final on the line. Experience, momentum, and belief will decide who takes the next step.
All the excitement of AFCON 2025 is available exclusively on beIN Sports.
Finishing Strong Matters Most
In tournament football, the old cliché of it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish often proves true. Rarely do champions dominate from beginning to end.
Argentina lifted the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing their opening group match to Saudi Arabia. AFCON 2023 was won by an Ivory Coast side whose group-stage struggles were so severe that their coach was dismissed mid-tournament. Egypt, having already eliminated the reigning champions at AFCON 2025, are hoping that finishing strong will once again be the formula for lifting the trophy for the first time since 2010.
Egypt Hitting Form at the Right Time
Egypt were far from convincing during the group stage and only truly came alive in extra time against Benin in the Round of 16. That momentum carried into the quarterfinals, where a tactical adjustment by head coach Hossam Hassan allowed the Pharaohs to dominate Ivory Coast from the opening whistle.
Both Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah found the net, though the Liverpool forward was quick to highlight the collective effort rather than individual brilliance. “The secret to today’s victory is the players,” Salah said. “The players gave everything they had.”
Senegal Still Searching for Top Gear
In contrast, Senegal have been solid but unspectacular throughout the tournament. They navigated a demanding Round of 16 clash against Mali with a narrow 1–0 victory, though without fully imposing themselves.
There remains, however, a strong belief that Senegal possess the deepest squad in the competition and can still raise their level when required. With attacking options such as Sadio Mané, Iliman Ndiaye, and Nicolas Jackson, the Lions of Teranga present a formidable challenge for any opponent.
A Semifinal With Everything at Stake
Even against an Egypt side finally performing at its peak, Senegal’s attacking quality and tournament experience make them a dangerous proposition. With a place in the AFCON 2025 final on the line, this semifinal promises a battle between momentum and potential—where only one giant will advance.
