Duplantis pushed hard by Karalis to match Bubka
Swedish star Armand Duplantis had to fight hard to defeat Greek vaulter Emmanouil Karalis and claim his fourth indoor world title at the championships in Torun.
Unlike previous editions, Duplantis faced strong resistance from Karalis, who forced a tactical battle that pushed the competition to its limits.
With this win, Duplantis equaled the record of legendary Sergey Bubka, achieving it in four consecutive editions.
Tactical duel raises the bar
Karalis, who had cleared 6.17 meters this season, used a strategy that forced Duplantis into higher jumps.
After clearing 6.05 meters on his first attempt, the Greek skipped intermediate heights and moved directly to 6.20 and 6.25 meters, increasing the pressure on the Swede.
At the decisive height, Karalis failed his attempts, while Duplantis successfully cleared the bar to secure the gold in one of his toughest victories.

High-level final podium
Karalis earned the silver medal with a mark of 6.05 meters, while Australia’s Kurtis Marschall claimed bronze with 6.00 meters.
The final stood out as one of Duplantis’ most demanding performances, defined by the constant pressure from Karalis.
