Jake Paul Hires Powerhouse Lawyer of Elon Musk to Battle Critics Claiming His Fights Are Rigged
Jake Paul has brought in high-profile attorney Alex Spiro, who has represented figures like Elon Musk and Jay-Z, to take legal action against those alleging his boxing matches are fixed.
A Legal Move to Protect His Name and Career
Controversial boxer and social media star Jake Paul has taken a decisive step to defend his reputation following growing claims that his fights are rigged. He has retained Alex Spiro, one of the most renowned attorneys in the United States, known for representing high-profile clients such as Elon Musk, Jay-Z, Alec Baldwin, and Naomi Osaka.
Spiro, who reportedly charges around $3,000 per hour, is known for aggressively protecting his clients’ reputations. “If someone uses their public platform to harm Jake and the sport with lies, there will be consequences,” the attorney warned.
This decision comes in the wake of controversy over Paul’s unanimous decision victory in June against former world champion Julio César Chávez Jr., marking the 12th win of his professional career. Critics like Piers Morgan have questioned the legitimacy of his fights, something his manager and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian has labeled as outright defamation, noting that it damages their business and partnerships with brands like DAZN, Netflix, and Celsius.
From Tyson to Lawsuits: The Context Behind the Controversy
Jake Paul’s most-watched bout came last November against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, streamed live on Netflix to over 108 million viewers. Despite the massive audience, suspicions of fight-fixing resurfaced, fueled by comments from former NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones, a friend of Tyson, who suggested the fight may have been staged.
For Paul, who has been working to be recognized as a legitimate athlete despite his polarizing image, these legal actions are a clear signal that baseless accusations will not be tolerated. With Spiro on his team, the message is firm: anyone spreading false claims that harm his career and credibility will face legal consequences.
The move also reflects his determination to protect not only his personal brand but also the integrity of the sport he says he loves and respects. “We are evaluating multiple individuals to take legal action against,” Bidarian stated, making it clear that the fight will take place both inside and outside the ring.
