Juventus dropped way off the pace set by Serie A's leading teams as it went down 2-0 to Genoa at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
First-half goals from Kingsley Ehizibue and Tommaso Baldanzi proved enough for Daniele De Rossi's side, which condemned Juve to a third league defeat of the season.
Ehizibue put Genoa ahead after just 12 minutes, darting in unmarked to meet Baldanzi's cutback before drilling a powerful effort that flew into the top corner via a heavy deflection off a desperate Andrea Cambiaso.
Guglielmo Vicario had to be alert to deny the hosts a second eight minutes later, reaching his near post to smother a teasing delivery from Milutin Osmajic.
After Kerim Alajbegovic saw a low effort denied, Genoa nearly doubled the lead off the ensuing counter-attack. Justin Bijlow picked out Osmajic's run perfectly, but the striker could only fire into the side netting after some heavy pressure from Pierre Kalulu.
Matters worsened for the Bianconeri in the 28th minute as Baldanzi turned from provider to scorer to double Genoa's lead, capping off a ruthless counter with a simple tap-in.
An array of midfield turnovers continued to cost Juventus as Genoa again threatened on the break, with Morten Frendrup's low centre narrowly evading Osmajic's outstretched boot.
Kalulu then spurned the Bianconeri's best chance to halve the deficit on the stroke of half-time, failing to find the target from 12 yards out after being found in space by a smart Weston McKennie pass.
Genoa continued to push after the break, with Leo Ostigard heading narrowly over off a corner before Vitinha followed suit shortly after, sending a swerving effort over Vicario's head from range.
Juventus struggled to create in excess until the dying minutes, when Bremer could not make the most of one of their biggest openings, glancing a header over the bar.
Edon Zhegrova then unleashed a shot from the edge of the area that forced Bijlow into an awkward save before Teun Koopmeiners fired a stinging effort that deflected off Johan Vasquez and onto the underside of the bar as Genoa saw out a hard-fought win.
