AC Milan eases past Lecce to stay unbeaten
AC Milan returned to winning ways as goals from Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lecce at San Siro.
Having drawn its last two Serie A matches, as well as losing to Benfica in the Europa League, Milan headed into the extended international break with a much-needed victory.
Milan's dominance was rewarded in the 14th minute through a real moment of quality. Strahinja Pavlovic's ball from deep was brilliantly taken down by Pulisic, who then finished with his left foot, despite Wladimiro Falcone getting contact on his shot.
Kialonda Gaspar forced Mike Maignan into action at the other end, but Ruben Amorim's side had two glorious opportunities to double its lead before heading in for half-time.
A quickly taken corner routine ended with Pulisic's dinked cross to the back post headed just wide by Koni De Winter before Pavlovic, after being sent clear by Pulisic, got his shot all wrong as Lecce goalkeeper Falcone comfortably gathered.
But after seeing a Pavlovic header ruled out for offside, Milan got their second goal just after the hour through Rabiot, who exchanged a neat one-two with Goncalo Ramos before wrapping a left-footed strike in at the near post.
Alexis Saelemaekers was then taken off for Moreira in the 69th minute, and the Belgian made an instant impact off the bench, bundling his way past Jamil Siebert to add further gloss to the scoreline four minutes after his introduction.
Maignan was kept on his toes to preserve his clean sheet, saving attempts from Oumar Ngom and Amar Fatah, but Milan were able to hold on and maintain their unbeaten start to the Serie A campaign.
