Archie Gray scored the only goal of the game before half-time to consign Palace to three league defeats in a row for the first time since October 2024, as it dropped to ninth in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, it has been anhistoric year for Glasner’s side, as it beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final to secure the first major trophy in the club’s history, before also triumphing over Liverpool in the Community Shield in August.

Domestic success has led to Palace competing in the Conference League for the first time, with Glasner steering the club into the knockout phase of the competition.

H“[We played] 37 games, [took] 59 points, winning two trophies playing in the knockout stage of European football – I think it was by far the best season in Crystal Palace's history," Glasner said.

However, Glasner believes the club still needs to make the necessary changes in order to compete on those fronts consistently.

“We are missing little things that are important to stay where we are,” the 51-year-old said. “It feels like we are not far away from being constantly in these areas.”

Will Hughes hopes those connected with Palace can move away from the disappointment of the last few matches, which has included an Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Arsenal on penalties, and look back fondly on a historic year.

"It's hard to see that now, being emotional after the game, but I think we'll take a step back and look it over the next few days, going into the new year and look back on the year as a whole and see it as very successful for Palace," he said.

“[It’s] unprecedented in terms of what we've done, the trophies we've won, so right now it's hard to see it like that after the result, but I'm sure this week we'll see it."

Glasner wants Palace to make signings in the January transfer window, primarily in the attacking positions, with his side having scored just one league goal in their last three matches.

“You just need to look at the stats,” he said. “We are the team that are constantly underperforming in scoring goals when we create a lot, but nobody does it on purpose. We need to get this fixed.”

Marc Guehi's future, meanwhile, is also up for debate. Palace held onto the England international in the summer despite Liverpool's interest, but the centre-back is into the final six months of his contract at Selhurst Park.
