Diallo wishes Rashford luck ahead of expected Barca loan
Marcus Rashford looks set to secure his move away from Manchester United, with Barcelona finalising a loan deal with an option to buy.
The defending Spanish champion is reportedly finalising a loan deal with an option to buy Rashford, who fell out of favour at his boyhood club under Ruben Amorim last season.
Rashford has been at United since he was seven years old, before making his senior debut in February 2016, aged 18.
The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, who opted against a permanent move despite him finishing the campaign with four goals and five assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
That tally of nine goal contributions was more than any United player managed across all competitions in the same timeframe.
Rashford's last appearance for United came off the bench against Nottingham Forest in December last year and he did not travel with Amorim's squad for its pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm.
"Well, the only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I'm more focused on United and my team," Diallo said when asked about Rashford's impending move.
Rashford is one of five wantaway players at United, along with Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
Sancho is reportedly closing in on a move to Juventus, and Garnacho had been linked with Napoli, though his interest seems to be in securing a Premier League move.
Diallo is close friends with Garnacho, but when asked if he would be sad to see the Argentine leave, he shrugged it off.
"I think this is not really my problem," Diallo said. "The only thing I'm thinking right now is how we will learn together as a team, and yeah, that's the only thing I'm trying to think about right now."
United is preparing for its first full season under Amorim, having finished 16th in the Premier League in 2024-2025 while reaching the Europa League final, which it lost to Tottenham.
The Red Devils have already added to their squad, bringing in Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, while they are reportedly close to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Diallo is confident they can make big improvements after a hugely underwhelming 2024-2025 season.
"A good season will be top five," Diallo said. "I hope we can achieve that top five at the end of the season because I think we would deserve it.
"I think the fans have to be patient with us. There's a new manager, with new players and new tactics, so we know last season wasn't really good for the team.
"But I think this season we will win a lot with him, and I hope we are going to achieve a lot of good things by the end of the season."
