Luis Enrique slams Dembele rumours as 'fake news'
Luis Enrique hit out at "fake news" amid speculation over the future of Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele.
PSG is reportedly in talks with Dembele over a new contract. The France international has been integral to PSG's success over the past year, and he won the 2025 Ballon d'Or and FIFA Best Award.
Dembele, who scored as PSG beat Marseille on penalties to win the Trophee des Champions last week, is heading into the last two years of his current deal, but reports have suggested he has rebuffed an initial offer from PSG.
An annoyed Luis Enrique suggested any such reports are untrue.
"These are just rumours, there are always rumours about PSG," Luis Enrique said ahead of Tuesday's (AEDT) Coupe de France clash with local rival Paris FC, which PSG faced in Ligue 1 on 5 January (AEDT).
"We're used to it. It's private and it will remain so. There's a lot of fake news.
"You [the media] might think it's important to destabilise the players and the team, but none of that will happen. It's normal to have negotiations but it remains private, we know what we want and that's the most important thing.
"We're calm and collected, as usual. Normally, you have to deal with problems on the pitch, but right now people are trying to destabilise us off the pitch with this kind of fake news. But it has nothing to do with reality."
Injuries have limited Dembele to just 16 appearances for PSG this season, but the forward has still registered 10 goal involvements (six goals, four assists), while creating 39 chances, which is the third-most in Luis Enrique's squad.
Luis Enrique also said that questions over Dembele's future should be directed to PSG's football advisor, Luis Campos.
