Daniel Farke's Leeds side, which accumulated 100 points, pipped Burnley to first place on goal difference after a 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

The Clarets appeared set to be crowned champion after beating Millwall 3-1, with Leeds locked at 1-1 for most of the second half against the Pilgrims, whose relegation was confirmed by the defeat.

However, there was to be one more twist in the 91st minute, as Solomon embarked on a jinking run into the penalty area, before slotting home to send the travelling supporters into ecstasy.

"I can't put into words what I'm feeling right now," he said after the win. "It is a dream come true to score the winning goal and take this Championship.

"Throughout the season, we've shown we deserve this trophy and to finish in the first spot. I'm so glad it happened.

"We all knew what was happening at Burnley, and we knew we needed to score. It paid off, and the ball went into the net."

Leeds missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League last season after a 1-0 defeat by Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

But fewer than 12 months later, Farke has guided his side the extra couple of steps to get back in the top flight, and the German was thrilled to cap a memorable season in fitting fashion.

"It feels pretty good," he said. "I want to send my congratulations to Burnley, to Scott [Parker]. I think they have done a fantastic job. They've played a season that deserves to be crowned with some silverware.

"Of course, I'm happy that we won this game in the final stages and are officially allowed to label ourselves as champions, and be the best team this season.

"It's an emotionally moving day because we have invested so much, and wanted to crown ourselves with some silverware.

"It feels pretty, pretty special in the dressing room, and I'm very happy for my players and staff. It means so much for them, and also our supporters."
