Sven Botman signs contract extension at Newcastle
Sven Botman has extended his contract with Newcastle United until the summer of 2030, much to the delight of head coach Eddie Howe.
The 26-year-old has made 93 appearances for the Magpies, with 17 of those coming this season, since joining from Lille ahead of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Botman also made two appearances in the victorious Carabao Cup run last season, but he missed the final against Liverpool with a knee injury.
Howe said: “We’re delighted that Sven has committed his long-term future to the club.
“He has been an outstanding player for us since he joined and I firmly believe there’s more to come from him.
“Sven has a strong mentality and work ethic, which is clear every time he trains or plays. We value his presence on and off the pitch and l’m really pleased to see his long-term future secured here.”
Botman added: “I’m really happy to sign this contract. This club has given me so much in the last three-and-a-half years.
“I’ve grown as a person and as a player here and I feel like I have so much more to give in the long term. That’s why both parties are really happy with this decision and I’m looking forward to what’s coming in the future here.”
