Marin broke the deadlock in the 21st minute with a superb free-kick from outside the penalty area on the left-hand side.
His curling effort sailed over the defensive wall and into the top corner, beyond the reach of the LASK goalkeeper.
The strike proved to be the difference between the two sides as AEK Athens held on to claim all three points and begin their campaign with a narrow victory on home soil.
