Scotland chase history against Morocco
Scotland could move within touching distance of a first-ever appearance in the knockout stage Fof a major tournament when they face Morocco in Boston on Friday.
Steve Clarke's side opened their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Haiti, with John McGinn's goal proving enough to secure all three points in their tournament opener.
The win lifted Scotland to the top of the group and left them well placed to challenge for a first appearance in the knockout stages of a major tournament. Another victory in Boston would put Clarke's men in a strong position heading into their final group-stage meeting with Brazil.
Morocco, however, arrive full of confidence after holding Brazil to a 1-1 draw in their opening match. Ismael Saibari gave the Atlas Lions the lead before Vinicius Junior rescued a point for the five-time champions.
Having become the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final in 2022, Morocco once again showed their ability to compete with football's elite and will believe they can take another significant step towards the Round of 32.
The nations have met only once previously, with Morocco claiming a 3-0 victory at the 1998 World Cup.
Saibari is expected to keep his place after his goal against Brazil, while Scotland are unlikely to make major changes following their winning start. Scott McKenna remains a doubt, though Clarke could otherwise name an unchanged side.
Predicted Scotland lineup:
Gunn; Hickey, Hendry, Hanley, Robertson; Gannon-Doak, Ferguson, McTominay, McGinn; Adams, Shankland
Predicted Morocco lineup:
Bono; Hakimi, Diop, Riad, Mazraoui; El Aynaoui, Bouaddi; Diaz, Ounahi, El Khannouss; Saibari
