Riyad Mahrez has announced his retirement from international football following Algeria's exit from the FIFA World Cup 2026, bringing an end to a distinguished career with the Desert Warriors.
The Algeria captain confirmed his decision after his side's Round of 32 defeat, ending an international career that cemented his place among the country's greatest players.
Mahrez represented Algeria for more than a decade and was a key figure during one of the most successful periods in the nation's football history.
The 35-year-old played a starring role in Algeria's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, helping the Desert Warriors secure their second continental title.
He bows out with 113 caps and 39 goals for Algeria.
