The decision was taken by the FPF's Disciplinary Council on Friday, 9 October, following incidents reported two days earlier.
Cristiano Ronaldo provisionally suspended by Portuguese Football Federation
Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended as the Portuguese football federation announced Saturday it had opened disciplinary proceedings against the 41-year-old following his decision to walk out on the national team.
In an official statement, the federation confirmed that proceedings had been initiated to determine whether Ronaldo's actions constituted a disciplinary offence.
The 41-year-old had already been subject to an automatic provisional suspension, but the disciplinary body has now imposed a separate, non-automatic provisional suspension while the investigation continues.
The FPF also confirmed that the case has been classified as urgent and referred to its Disciplinary Investigation Committee.
The proceedings were referred to the FPF's Disciplinary Investigation Committee on Saturday, 10 October, and will not be made public until the investigation concludes.
