Maddison out for rest of the season with knee injury
James Maddison will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed.
The England midfielder limped off during the first leg of Spurs' Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt, in which he scored the second goal of a 3-1 victory.
Maddison has been one of Tottenham's standout performers during a difficult season for the club, registering the joint-most goal involvements in all competitions (22, level with Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke).
However, he will play no further part this campaign in what is another blow for Postecoglou, who is also without Lucas Bergvall for the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury.
"Madders tweaked his knee in the first leg. He's out, he'll miss the rest of the season," Postecoglou said. "It's disappointing for him more than anything else, because he has been a big catalyst for us. He misses out, but that's been a constant of our season dealing with these things. We'll [just need to] overcome that."
Tottenham is 16th in the Premier League, but will qualify for next season's Champions League should it go on and lift the Europa League trophy.
Should it progress to the final, Postecoglou's side will face either Manchester United or Athletic Club in the showpiece on 21 May, with the Red Devils leading 3-0 from the first leg of that tie.
