Galatasaray salvages a point after Corum scare
Victor Osimhen scored a double as defending champion Galatasaray rescued a point in the Super Lig season opener, drawing 2-2 at home against newly-promoted Colum.
After a first half of few chances, Osimhen put the hosts ahead with a fine finish from a tight angle into an empty net on 53 minutes after rounding Corum goalkeeper Marcos Felipe in the penalty area.
But fewer than 10 minute later, Gala was 2-1 down after a sensational long-range strike from Alexandros Kyziridis had levelled matters before Jesus Ramirez pounced on a botched backpass from Davinson Sanchez to put the visitors ahead.
But Kyziridis turned villain with 20 minutes remaining when he was shown a straight red card for a raking challenge down the back of Yunus Akgun's achilles, leaving his side with 10 men for the remainder of the contest.
Under heavy pressure from Galatasaray, it seemed Corum might hold out for a shock win, but as the clock turned over to the 90th minute, Osimhen was on hand to head home from close range, and a magnificent save from Ugurcan Cakir at the other moments later ensured a point for the hosts.
