Inter faces newly-promoted Monza in season opener
Inter Milan will begin the defence of its Serie A title at San Siro when it hosts newly-promoted Monza on 23 August AEST after the fixtures for the 2026-2027 were released this weekend.
Monza was promoted back to the top flight in Italy despite drawing its two-legged play-off with Catanzaro 2-2, thanks to finishing higher in Serie B than its opponent.
A tougher start to the new season it could not have imagined, with Inter fresh from winning the Scudetto last season after one of its most consistent seasons in recent history.
Napoli, which finished second behind Inter, 11 points adrift of the champion, will begin a new era after the departure of coach Antonio Conte with a trip to Genoa while third-placed Roma wil be at home against Fiorentina.
Cesc Fabregas's Como, which qualified for the UEFA Champions League football for the first time by finishing fourth under the former Arsenal player, will be on the road against Udinese while AC Milan, which will also be starting the season with a new coach after Massimiliano Allegri's sacking, is at Torino in arguably the pick of the fixtures for matchday one.
As always it is the derby dates that many look out for, and the first for Inter and Milan falls on 2 November, with the return fixture set for 15 February 2027.
Inter will host Juventus in the first Derby d'Italia of the new season on 10 January 2027, and the two sides will meet again on 16 May, when the season will likely be at a crucial stage in terms of who will win the Scudetto and who will qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Roma and Lazio will play the Derby della Capitale on 13 December, with Lazion hosting, before Roma welcomes its rival to Stadio Olimpico on 18 April 2027.
Juventus will host Torino in the first Derby della Mole on 6 January 2027, with 4 April the date for the return fixture, and Napoli and Roma will meet for the Derby del Sol on 25 October in Naples before the Italian capital hosts the return on 2 May 2027.
