Madueke eyes trophies after sealing Arsenal move
Noni Madueke has high aspirations after completing his move from Chelsea to Arsenal, as he wants to "win all the competitions we're in".
Madueke penned a five-year contract with the Gunners and arrived in north London for a reported £48.5 million ($99.9 million) initial transfer fee, which could increase further with add-ons.
Having joined Arsenal fresh from claiming UEFA Conference League glory with Chelsea at the end of last season, he has his sights on more trophies with his new club.
"I'm somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time, and I feel like it's steered me in the right direction so far," he said.
"So, I don't think it's going to be any different here. I think it's going to be a great success, and I'm really happy to be here.
"It's already a great team with a clear identity, and I can't wait to bring my style to the team and try and help the boys as much as possible to take that next step.
"[I want] to win all the competitions we're in. I feel like we're definitely capable of doing that. And also, to help the team in every way I can and grow as a player, but also as a person."
Ahead of Chelsea's 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final, Blues boss Enzo Maresca all but confirmed Madueke's switch to Arsenal, saying he was "in contact with a new club".
Madueke's departure comes after Chelsea strengthened in the attacking areas with the additions of Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap earlier in the transfer window.
Just before his move to Arsenal was confirmed, Madueke penned an emotional message on social media to express his gratitude for his time with Chelsea.
"I want to thank you for the last 3 or so years. To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you," Madueke posted.
"To my team-mates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys.
"We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best.
"To Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person. Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan.
"Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories."
Arsenal has finished as runner-up in each of the past three Premier League seasons, while it has not won a major trophy since August 2020, in Mikel Arteta's first year in charge.
The Gunners have strengthened this transfer window already, with Madueke their fourth signing after Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who they also signed from Chelsea.
Arsenal is also reportedly closing in on the signings of Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera as it aims to mount a title challenge once more.
Arteta is excited about what Madueke will add to his squad.
"We're all so happy to welcome Noni Madueke to the team," Arteta said.
"Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality. He is one of the most talented wide forward players in the Premier League.
"At just 23, Noni already brings experience of club and international football, and he knows the Premier League very well.
"Having seen the quality of Noni's performances up close in recent seasons, we're really excited he is joining us. His arrival will really improve our squad."
The Gunners open their top-flight campaign away to Manchester United on 18 August (AEST), with Madueke not due to face his former club until 30 November (AEST), when his new side makes the trip to Stamford Bridge.
