AFC Wimbledon books Wembley play-off final date
AFC Wimbledon will play Walsall in the battle for promotion to EFL League One after claiming a second 1-0 victory over Notts County in the EFL League Two semi-finals.
Having won away from home by a single in midweek, Johnnie Jackson's Wombles guaranteed their place in the final on 27 May (AEST) thanks to an early goal from Josh Neufville, which capped a 2-0 aggregate victory.
Neufville received a long ball just inside the Notts County box, and lifted a super chip over goalkeeper Alex Bass inside the first 10 minutes, and the hosts never looked back.
"It was an unbelievable goal from Josh, he got in behind, controlled it. It's a goal worthy to win any game, any tiem," Jackson said after the match.
"We probably should have made it a little more comfortable with some of the chances we had in the second half on the counter attack.
"But we knew 1-0 would be enough today, so that's brilliant."
