Stosur, Dasha lead Aussie charge at Indian Wells
Australian tennis stars Samantha Stosur and Daria 'Dasha' Gavrilova are back LIVE on beIN, with the BNP Paribas Open starting on Thursday.
The withdrawal of world number-one Serena Williams, due to a knee injury, has opened up the field for both Indian Wells and Miami, with Australian players Stosur and Gavrilova joining the top female tennis players in the world at the Premier WTA events.
Confirmation of her injured status will come as a further blow to Williams, who will lose her top ranking to Germany's Angelique Kerber as a result of missing the two hardcourt tournaments.
Stosur and Gavrilova, ranked 18 and 27 respectively, will enter the tournament at the Round of 64 stage, with both looking to continue their strong start to the season.
A third Australian, Ajla Tomljanovic, is in action on Thursday in the Round of 128 against German Julia Gorges.
One Australian who won't be taking her place at Indian Wells is young star Ashleigh Barty, whose Malaysian Open win last week prevented from registering in time.
