Canada captain slams "f****** horrible" Romania defeat
Canada captain Jamie Cudmore was viciously blunt in his assessment of the atmosphere of the dressing room after its Rugby World Cup defeat to Romania.
Jamie Cudmore described the Canada dressing room as "f****** horrible" after its Rugby World Cup finished with a heart-breaking 17-15 defeat to Romania.
Canada had led the Pool D clash 15-0 thanks to tries from wings DTH van der Merwe and Jeff Hassler but Romania captain Mihai Macovei crossed twice to set up a grandstand finish.
The European nation completed the biggest comeback in World Cup history thanks to a penalty from Florin Vlaicu two minutes from time, ensuring Canada ended the tournament winless.
Asked what the dressing room was like in the wake of the loss, Cudmore replied: "What do you think it's like? It's f****** horrible.
"The guys have worked extremely hard for the last three or four months, even years.
"We came up second best [against] a team we honestly thought we were better than.
"The boys are extremely disappointed. I'm just as gutted as them."
The game at the King Power Stadium was expected to be the lock's last for Canada.
Pressed on the subject of his future, he said: "It's something I have to look at this year. I'm extremely proud to represent my country and [have] the chance to captain.
"For the moment I'm just extremely disappointed."
