Sparta's Koubek in hot water after sexist rant
Sparta Prague goalkeeper Tomas Koubek has apologised for sexit remarks he made after a female assistant missed an offside in his side's 3-3 draw against Brno.
The Sparta Prague goalkeeper was furious after assistant Lucie Ratajova missed an offside in the lead up to Brno's stoppage time equaliser in the Czech First League on Monday (AEST).
After the game, Koubek said "My opinion is that women belong at the stove and should not officiate men's football."
The 24 year-old took to social media to apologise, posting a photo of partner and daughter on his personal Facebook account.
"Yesterday in Brno was a bug that caused a lot of emotion... I immediately after the game said something that I regret and for which I would like to apologise to all women," Koubek said in a Facebook post.
"I did not mean t be chauvinistic, my statement was directed at a specific person and a specific situation that arose in the match. "
"And in turn, I love my girls, and I want to have accomplished something we can be proud."
Fellow team-mate Lukas Vacha also took aim at the female assistant, posting a photo on twitter captioned with "the cooker."
Koubek still faces disciplinary action, with the Czech FA set to meet and discuss the matter this week.
