Everton completes €27m Klaassen deal
Davy Klaassen has left Ajax in favour of a move to Everton after both clubs reached an agreement over a transfer fee of €27million.
Everton has completed the signing of Davy Klaassen from Ajax in a deal worth €27million.
The 2016 Dutch player of the year captained Ajax in its run to the UEFA Europa League final this season, where it lost 1-0 to Manchester United.
"The moment that I spoke with the manager directly I got a good feeling. He is an honest guy, we talked about the club, about the way he wants to play and that gave me a positive feeling," Klassen said.
Klassen is the second player to arrive at Everton on a big morning of transfers for the club, which paid a club record $A50 million for Sunderland goal-keeper Jordan Pickford.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman praised the Dutchman's leadership qualities.
"He is a player who is only 24 but has a lot of experience and is a leader on the pitch," he said. "He has already captained Ajax for two seasons and that shows you the type of person he is."
