Dani Alves shuns Man City for PSG: report
Dani Alves looks to be headed for Paris Saint-Germain despite a move from Juventus to Manchester City appearing almost certain.
Reports from France over the weekend have suggested Dani Alves could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain instead of Manchester City, where most thought he would continue his career after leaving Serie A champion Juventus in the close-season.
The Brazilian was expected at City next week to complete a medical and ultimately sign for Pep Guardiola's side, but PSG is believed to have stolen in under the nose of the Premier League giant.
The Ligue 1 side reportedly received a verbal guarantee from Dani Alves on Sunday (AEST) that he would make the move to France, with a deal possibly set to be formalised within the next 24 hours, despite City having already claimed to have sorted out a two-year deal for the right back pending a medical.
Dani Alves is believed to have been lured to PSG under a promise of regular football and a "leadership role" with the club as it looks to win the UEFA Champions League after failing to reach the quarter-finals last season after a humbling defeat to Barcelona in the Round of 16.
PSG's new sporting director Antero Henrique is believed to be the mastermind behind the swoop for the 34-year-old Brazil international, and is believed to have held talks with the player over the weekend, which resulted in securing the star's switch from the Premier League to the French club.
French newspaper Le Parisien has also suggested that if Dani Alves does make a shock move to PSG, he could replace Serge Aurier, who would find himself looking elsewhere for first team football in the upcoming season.
L'Equipe TV's Mercato programme also hinted heavily that Dani Alves had made up his mind to reject City for PSG and would be in the French capital soon to finalise the deal.
Should all these reports and rumours turn out to be true, City is thought to be ready to bring in England international Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur in order to fill the right back role.
