Lionel Messi To Miss Next Three Weeks of Action Because of Groin Injury
Luis Enrique and Edgardo Bauza will have to face the next 21 days without the reassuring presence of the Barcelona maestro following the injury he sustained on Wednesday night.
Lionel Messi was forced off just before the hour mark of Barcelona's LaLiga clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
The Argentina star pulled up in discomfort after shrugging off pressure from Atletico captain Diego Godin early in the second half.
Messi attempted to play on but was eventually substituted for Arda Turan.
Reports in Barcelona suggest the number 10 is expected to miss three weeks because of the groin injury, meaning Luis Enrique will be without the club's all-time top goalscorer for the upcoming LaLiga encounters with Sporting Gijon (Sept. 24) and Celta Vigo (Oct. 2) as well as the Champions League away trip to Borussia M'Gladbach (Sept. 28).
The setback will also affect the Argentina national side - The Albiceleste has two World Cup qualifying fixtures coming up against Peru (Oct. 6) and Paraguay (Oct. 11).
