Spanish State Prosecutor Seeks Two-Year Prison Sentence For Neymar And Fine For Barcelona
The Spanish state prosecutor investigating Neymar's transfer to Barcelona has asked that the player receives a two-year prison sentence.
The Spanish state prosecutor investigating Neymar's transfer to Barcelona has asked that the player receives a two-year prison sentence.
The charges relate to a fraud case against Neymar and his father relating to the Brazilian international's transfer to Barca in 2013. Despite the case initially being closed, it was re-opened in September by Spanish prosecutors.
As well as the Neymar demands, the prosecutors also ask that Barcelona as a club receives a €10m fine for their involvement in the deal.
Ex-Barca president Sandro Rossell is also wrapped up in the case, and the prosecution would like to see him serve a five-year sentence.
All this might not be satisfactory for DIS however, the investment group who filed the complaint after feeling 'betrayed' by Neymar in the deal that took him to Spain.
DIS feels they are more money from the deal. It owned 40 percent of the player's sporting rights when he completed his transfer to Camp Nou three years ago. While they did receive 40% of the €57.1m fee claimed by Barca, the club would later admit that more money was handed over for the player.
DIS are requesting 5-year sentences for Neymar, Rosell and current president Josep Maria Bartomeu - as well as a whopping €195m fine for Barca
Barca already expressed its disagreement with the court at the time of the case being reopened.
