Fenerbahçe has decided not to proceed with their threat to withdraw from the Süper Lig, as announced by the club's president, Yıldırım Ali Koç, to thousands of congress members gathered at the club's stadium in Istanbul.

The threat of leaving the Turkish league came after Trabzonspor fans invaded the pitch to clash with security forces and Fenerbahçe players.

"In all our meetings, the least preferred option was to withdraw from the league. The reason why this opinion is not wanted is that people think we would have to deal in the lower league with the same things we deal with here," Ali Koc stated.
