"It hurts me": Aubameyang After Gattuso's Departure
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took the opportunity to pay tribute to Gennaro Gattuso in a press conference a few days after the Italian's departure.
Olympique de Marseille experienced an emotionally charged week. After yet another underwhelming performance last Sunday against Brest (1-0), Gennaro Gattuso was relieved of his duties and replaced by Jean-Louis Gasset. In his debut on the bench, the 70-year-old coach saw his team secure a victory against Shakhtar in the Europa League playoffs, thanks in part to a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Returning to form in recent weeks, the Gabonese forward now hopes to validate this in Ligue 1, as he shared in a press conference: "I am a player who depends on the team; I am a reflection of the team. I'm not worried; we need to find our rhythm in Ligue 1."
Aubameyang thinks of Gattuso
The former Arsenal striker also wanted to express his support for Gennaro Gattuso, with whom he was close: "I have words for Gattuso; it hurt me. He was my neighbor in Milan. In a footballer's life, you have to get back to work quickly.
The new coach has brought us a lot of serenity. We needed to be reassured." It remains to be seen if the Gasset effect will continue this Sunday when Montpellier visits the Vélodrome.
