Devastated: Grealish Injured, Teammates Console Him
The English talent had to be substituted at the 38th minute in the FA Cup match against Luton one day after Guardiola gave him a warning.
It's been a string of bad luck for Jack Grealish. The English international had to be substituted due to injury in the 38th minute of the FA Cup match against Luton, a game in which the Cityzens dominated (2-6) to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals.
It's quite a drama for Grealish, who the day before had to hear a word of caution from Pep Guardiola. The Spanish coach urged him to improve his performance and warned him that he couldn't wait forever.
He was given the opportunity to start against Luton, but at the 38-minute mark, he had to be substituted due to physical problems. Just two weeks earlier, he also experienced issues during the Champions League match against Copenhagen. Since then, he hadn't played.
According to the Daily Mail, Grealish was devastated after leaving the field injured and had to be consoled by his teammates in the dressing room.
During the press conference, Guardiola lamented the difficult moment Grealish is going through, mentioning that "it's the second time" something like this has happened, referring to his physical issues two weeks prior. "Hopefully, this time he can recover well," added the coach.
Meanwhile, Grealish posted a message on his social media celebrating City's victory and hoping that the tests won't reveal a serious injury: "Hoping my injury isn't too bad," wrote the Englishman, who is experiencing a truly unfortunate season.
