Potential Punishment Looms for Cristiano Over "Shameful Conduct"
Cristiano Ronaldo could be sidelined for several matches following his expulsion in the Super Cup semifinal with Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo was expelled in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal for an action described in the referee's report as "shameful conduct."
This was revealed by the Al Riyadiya media, and it is precisely for this reason that the Portuguese star will be investigated and could face severe consequences.
Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off for a straight red card after using his elbow with "excessive force" against Ali Al Bulaihi, a player from Al-Hilal. As he was leaving, he even pretended to hit the referee.
Such behavior could lead to a minimum of a two-game suspension, according to the Saudi tournament regulations, along with a fine of 20,000 riyals (approximately $5,400).
Cristiano's expulsion ultimately condemned Al-Nassr, who was defeated by Al-Hilal in the Super Cup semifinal. This marks the fifth title that the Portuguese has missed out on since joining Saudi football.
