Chang, Ozaki through to round two in Nanchang
Chang Kai-chen and Risa Ozaki were among the winners on the opening day of the hard-court tournament in Nanchang.
Last year's runner-up Chang Kai-chen booked her place in the second round of the WTA Jiangxi Open on Monday with a victory over Zhang Yuxuan.
Chang, beaten by Jelena Jankovic in the 2015 final in Nanchang, was made to work for her victory over Zhang and prevailed 7-5 4-6 6-3 despite serving 14 double faults and being broken six times.
Seventh seed Risa Ozaki was another winner on the opening day of the hard-court event, seeing off Han Na-Lae 6-3 6-1 in just an hour and 21 minutes.
Japan's Ozaki took advantage of her Korean opponent's service struggles to break on seven occasions in a routine first-round victory.
Han Xinyun, seeded eight, was pushed all the way by Junri Namigata before winning 2-6 6-4 7-5, while Nicha Lertpitaksinchai, Jang Su-Jeong, Misa Eguchi, Duan Ying-Ying and Zhang Kai-Lin are also through to round two.
