Zverev thwarts all-French final, Dimitrov charge continues
A second ATP title is one match away for Alexander Zverev, while Grigor Dimitrov's fine start to 2017 continued in Bulgaria.
Alexander Zverev thwarted hopes of an all-French final in the Open Sud de France by defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, while only David Goffin stands between Grigor Dimitrov and a first title on home soil at the Sofia Open.
Teenager Zverev battled from a set down to defeat second seed and home favourite Tsonga 6-7 (6-8) 6-2 6-4 in Montpellier.
The 19-year-old looked to be heading for defeat when he started the second set by dropping his serve, but he surged back and completed the victory after two hours, 20 minutes.
Zverev will take on three-time champion Richard Gasquet, who cruised past Benoit Paire 6-2 6-2, as the German looks to win his second ATP Tour title.
In the Sofia Open, Dimitrov needed just 64 minutes to see of Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1 6-3 to advance to the final.
The Bulgarian is in fine form this season, having triumphed at the Brisbane International and reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open.
He will need to overcome world number 11 Goffin next, the Belgian recovering from an opening-set loss to edge out Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7 6-4 7-6 (7-3).
