Murray downs compatriot Edmund at Queen's
Reigning champion Andy Murray will face Marin Cilic in the Queen's semi-finals after defeating another fellow Briton.
Andy Murray won a second consecutive match against a British compatriot as Kyle Edmund's Queen's dreams were ended despite a valiant fight.
Edmund stunned Gilles Simon in the opening round and got a walkover when Paul-Henri Mathieu withdrew, but came up short in a 6-4 3-6 6-1 loss to reigning champion Murray, who beat Aljaz Bedene last time out.
In his first tournament since being reunited with coach Ivan Lendl, Murray will face fifth seed Marin Cilic in the semi-finals as the two-time grand slam winner goes in search of a record fifth title at the London ATP 500 event.
Cilic came from a set down to beat Steve Johnson 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 6-4.
It was a busy day of mixed fortunes for Roberto Bautista-Agut, whose last-16 match against Donald Young was cut short by adverse weather on Thursday.
The sixth seed returned a day later leading by a set and wrapped up a 6-4 6-2 triumph, returning to court a matter of hours later to take on Milos Raonic.
But a second scalp of the day proved beyond him, the Canadian progressing courtesy of a 6-1 6-4 victory.
