Hamilton looks to end season on a high in Abu Dhabi
World champion Lewis Hamilton heads to Abu Dhabi looking to end his Formula One season on a high.
Nico Rosberg goes in search of a third successive race win as the Formula One season draws to a close in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Rosberg's Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton sealed the drivers' championship in the United States last month, but the German has responded by claiming back-to-back victories in Mexico and Brazil.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettl is comfortably third in the drivers' standings behind the Mercedes duo, but fourth spot is still up for grabs, as Williams' Valtteri Bottas sits just a point above Vettel's team-mat Kimi Raikkonen.
The top five spots in the constructors' championship are already secured, but Toro Rosso could still catch Lotus in sixth with a healthy points total in Abu Dhabi.
AROUND THE PADDOCK
Mercedes have been dominant in 2015 and they can extend their record of the most one-twos in a season to 12 this weekend. A Hamilton-Rosberg or Rosberg-Hamilton one-two would also surpass Mercedes' 2014 points tally.
Four-time champions Red Bull have endured a tough season due to troubles with their Renault engine, but there is still something for drivers Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo to fight for with just 10 points separating them in the standings.
The battle for fourth place has seen Bottas and Raikkonen collide twice in recent weeks, and the Finns are sure to be duelling it out again this weekend.
PRE-RACE SOUNDBITES
"It will be close as always with Lewis and we saw a big push from Ferrari in Sao Paulo, so it won't be straightforward, but I'm up for a battle." Rosberg is determined to seal a third successive win.
"If we can push for some points in Abu Dhabi, it'll definitely be a boost for the team to end the season, and will reward all the efforts from every single member of the team over the past year. Anything positive we can take from this weekend will help us start our next chapter together with even more energy." Jenson Button hopes to claim a seventh points finish of the season for McLaren.
"I think starting in the sun and ending in the dark is pretty cool. Actually I think the whole atmosphere of the weekend is pretty cool. Lots of boat parties in the marina, lots of fun. I do like Abu Dhabi." Ricciardo has plenty to look forward to.
"For sure it is going to be an emotional race and I want to do my best for the team so we can score points and be in a good place in the championship so I can leave them feeling proud of what I've done." Romain Grosjean prepares for an emotional farewell with Lotus, the Frenchman moving to Haas F1 in 2016.
THE CIRCUIT
The Yas Marina circuit is an iconic track in the middle of the desert. Palm trees adorn the edges of the circuit with intricate stadium sections around stunning architecture. Sector two offers the drivers the best chance to overtake over the 55 laps with two long straights.
WEATHER FORECAST
Abu Dhabi looks set for clear and warm weather throughout the weekend, with little chance of rain. Sunday will see highs of 28c, with the heat remaining even after the sun sets and the drivers race under the lights.
GRAND PRIX GOLD
As the last event on the calendar Abu Dhabi has seen its fair share of drama since 2009, with the second race at the track hosting a thrilling title decider. Vettel - then with Red Bull - defied the odds to beat Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber and Hamilton to the title, becoming the youngest world champion ever in the process.
