Olesen, Kjeldsen lead Denmark to victory
Denmark claimed their first World Cup of Golf title thanks to Thorbjorn Olesen and Soren Kjeldsen.
Denmark duo Thorbjorn Olesen and Soren Kjeldsen closed out a four-shot win at the World Cup of Golf on Sunday.
Kjeldsen, who enjoyed a resurgent season this year, and Olesen, who recently won on the European Tour, finished at 20 under after carding a six-under 66 in the final round in Melbourne.
They finished four shots clear of the United States' Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker, France's Victor Dubuisson and Romain Langasque and China's Wu Ashun and Li Haotong to lead Denmark to their first World Cup title.
After watching their lead dwindle to just one shot midway through the final day, Olesen and Kjeldsen birdied five of the first six holes on the back nine to pull away.
Olesen provided a dramatic finish by draining a curling 20-footer for birdie on 18 to win by four shots at Kingston Heath Golf Club.
Defending champions Australia, with Adam Scott and Marc Leishman, were tied for ninth at 11 under.
Fowler and Walker failed to apply pressure on the Danish leaders Sunday.
Fowler struggled to make putts, while Walker fought through a wayward driver as they carded a 66.
France (63) and China (65) finished well but were unable to make up the ground required.
