DeAndre Yedlin joins Sunderland on loan
The USA defender has made a move that sees him stay in the Premier League with a chance at more playing time.
DeAndre Yedlin will be in the Premier League again this season, with Tottenham and Sunderland agreeing on a deal that will see the former Seattle Sounder join the Black Cats on loan.
The move, driven by a need for more playing time, puts an end to the summer-long saga of where the young USA star would end up.
Clubs from Germany, Italy and the Netherlands all express interest in the World Cup veteran, who joined Tottenham last winter but saw limited chances to break into the first team.
Sunderland sits in last place in the Premier League, having allowed the most goals in the league (10 goals in four matches). Yedlin will be expected to provide some competition for starting right back Billy Jones, who has struggled in the early part of the season.
Tottenham's acquisition of right back Kieran Trippier earlier this summer dropped Yedlin further down the Spurs depth chart, underneath starter Kyle Walker. Yedlin made just one substitute appearance for Tottenham last season after arriving from MLS.
Yedlin is currently with the U.S. national team in Washington, D.C., ahead of Friday's friendly against Peru.
