England call for Curran as cover for Ball
A "giddy" Tom Curran got the call to fly out to the Caribbean after Jake Ball suffered an injury in a warm-up game on Monday.
Uncapped Surrey paceman Tom Curran has been added to the England squad for the one-day international series against West Indies as cover for Jake Ball.
Ball suffered a knee injury during a victory over the WICB President's XI in St Kitts on Monday and there has been no word as yet on the extent of the damage done.
Curran will fly out to Antigua to link up with the squad ahead of the opening game of the three-match series on Friday after some impressive displays with England Lions and Surrey.
The 21-year-old claimed 10 wickets in the two four-day games against Sri Lanka A this month with England selector Angus Fraser watching on.
South Africa-born Curran said prior to leaving Dambulla on Tuesday: "It's all pretty surreal right now. But I'm giddy, I can't wait to get out there."
