Kessler comes out of retirement aged 38
Mikkel Kessler has not fought for four years but the veteran Dane has decided to resume his career, sparking interest from Carl Froch.
Former world super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler has announced he is to come out of retirement at the age of 38.
The veteran Dane has not fought since losing to Carl Froch in a super-middleweight unification rematch in London back in May 2013.
Kessler announced his retirement two years ago, but on Friday confirmed he plans to resume his career.
The man nicknamed 'The Viking Warrior' gave no details of who he plans to make his comeback against at a media conference in his homeland.
Froch, Joe Calzaghe and Andre Ward were the only fighters to defeat Kessler in 49 bouts before he hung up his gloves.
Retired Brit Froch reacted to Kessler's comeback by telling Sky Sports: "I've always said fighters should stay retired but I've got to be honest, this has really got me thinking!
"It is 1-1 of course and if anything is going to get me going again - it is a decider with Mikkel Kessler."
