Maren Lundby secures ski jump gold
23 year old delivers in final jump to secure ski jump gold
Maren Lundby of Norway claimed gold in the Women's ski jump on Monday evening, with a winning score of 264.6. Lundby had it all to do in her final effort and put in a season's best jump of 110m to seal her first Olympic medal.
Lundby had won six of the last seven World Cup fixtures heading into the games and her mammoth leap insured that Norway picked up their second medal of the winter Olympics.
German athlete Katharina Althaus secured silver with a total of 252.6 points, whilst Japanese competitor Sara Takanashi picked up a bronze medal with 243.8 points overall.
