Derby days come to beIN this weekend
There’s no need to get off the couch this weekend, with a derby double header, Serie A blockbuster and MORE LIVE on beIN SPORTS
The marathon kicks off with Roma’s trip to the San Siro to take on AC Milan, and a top-of-the-table clash in the EFL Championship, before a derby double header with the Old Firm Derby on Sunday night, followed by the Seville derby on Monday morning (AEST).
1) AC Milan v Roma - Saturday from 4.30am AEST on beIN 3
Two of Italian football’s glamour clubs collide when Roma heads to the San Siro to take on an AC Milan desperate for its first win of the season.
The Rossoneiri put the league on notice with the capture of star striker Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus, but Gennaro Gattuso’s side kicked off its campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Napoli in Round one.
It doesn’t get any easier this week, with a visit from a Roma side off to an unbeaten start to the season.
2) Leeds v Middlesbrough – Saturday from 4.45am AEST on beIN 2
Leeds is off to a blistering start under tactical innovator Marcelo Bielsa, but the Peacoks face their biggest test of the season when they take on Middlesbrough in their top-of-the table clash.
Bielsa’s men have scored 14 goals in their opening five games, giving their cult following growing hope that this could be the year the proud club returns to the Premier League.
Leeds boasts the best attack in the league, but no side has conceded fewer goals than Boro this season, a case of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
3) Celtic v Rangers - Sunday from 9pm AEST on beIN 2
Arguably the most spite-filled derby in world football, the fabled rivalry between Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers goes back 128 years.
Socceroos star Tom Rogic will be in action for the Hoops, and there could be a moment of magic from the 25 year-old, if his previous exploits against Rangers are anything to go by.
It will be Steven Gerrards first Old Firm derby, and the England legend will be keen to get one up on his former Liverpool manager and Celtic counterpart Brendan Rodgers.
Forget the alarm for this one, you can round out the weekend with the Old Firm derby LIVE on beIN 2 from 9pm AEST.
4) Real Betis v Sevilla - Monday from 4.45am AEST on beIN 2
Real Betis’s scintillating attack took the league by storm last season, but Quique Setien‘s men have drawn blank so far this season, languishing in 18th drop zone after two games.
Now is a better time than ever for the Beticos machine to click into gear, with a visit from cross-town rival Sevilla.
Betis has bragging rights heading in to the new season, having pipped its old foe to automatic passage into the UEFA Europa League, but Sevilla looks well poised to make amends on Monday morning (AEST).
