The stars behind Celtic's unbeaten run
High-flying Celtic is seeking a seventh-consecutive league title and there are five players who will be the driving force behind another trophy-laden season.
Celtic was unstoppable in Brendan Rodgers’s debut season, wrapping up the league title with eight games remaining and finishing 30 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.
The Hoops are also on a 48-game unbeaten domestic run and for that to continue, these five stars will need to pick up where they left off last season.
Tom Rogic
There’s no denying Rogic’s talent after winning a global competition to join Nike’s prestigious Football Academy in 2011, before sealing a move to Celtic two years later.
The Australia midfielder struggled in Glasgow early on with a spate of injuries and loan spell in the A-League, but the 24 year-old has since established himself as a key part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans.
A stoppage time winner in the Scottish Cup final was the perfect way to close out last season for Rogic. Expect the attacking midfielder to pick up where he left off this campaign.
Scott Sinclair
Once a rising star in Chelsea’s youth academy, Scott Sinclair represented England at every junior age group but never quite lived up to his potential at senior level.
That was until he was offered a lifeline at Celtic last year and the 28 year-old took it with both hands, bagging 21 goals and seven assists in a stellar debut season.
Sinclair’s hat-trick away to Hearts handed Celtic its 48th league title and cemented his marquee status at the club.
It remains to be seen whether Sinclair’s renaissance will continue, but it does, the rest of the Scottish Premiership will have little chance of stopping the Bhoys.
Moussa Dembele
One of the many 'Dembeles' lighting up world football, Moussa quickly become a fan-favourite at Celtic Park and reaffirmed that by scoring a hat-trick against fierce rival Rangers in September - the first Old Firm derby hat-trick since 1966.
The 21 year-old has ice in his veins and gets fans off their seats with his tekkers and spectacular goals. Dembele already boasts a highlights reel most seasoned professionals would be proud of.
Leigh Griffiths
Griffiths managed 31 goals in 34 league appearances two seasons ago, but the arrival of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair has seen the striker turn provider with eight assists last season, second only to Patrick Roberts.
A classic poacher, Griffiths guarantees goals and could have a big season with Celtic’s star-studded midfield soaking up defensive pressure.
Mikael Lustig
Every swashbuckling side needs an enforcer at the back, enter Mikael Lustig. The versatile defender can play centre-half or right back and provides the platform for Celtic's lethal attack.
The 30 year-old isn't one to walk away from a fight either, just ask Barcelona maestro Neymar.
It's not all brawn from the Sweden international - his Rabona in a 25 pass move lead to this goal against St Johnstone.
