Evra was sent off before the start of Marseille's UEFA Europa League match against Vitoria SC on Friday (AEDT) after clashing with fans.

Marseille players were warming up before being confronted by a group, believed to be fans of the Ligue 1 club which prompted a fiesty altercation.

The left-back, who has come under criticism for a string of poor performances this season was captured lashing out at the group of fans which resulted in the left-back's bizarre pre-match dismissal.

The 36 year-old loves to get on social media with countless viral clips and selfies, but perhaps the Frenchman should stay off twitter until this one dies down.

Fans quickly drew comparisons between Evra and his French compatriot Eric Cantona, who was infamously banned for nine months for putting his Taekwondo on show for a group of Crystal Palace supporters in 1995.

Evra's head kick wouldn't look out of place in a  Bruce Lee film, a comparison which wasn't lost on these fans.
