Irrepressible Sinner outlasts Zverev to win second straight Wimbledon title

  • Jannik Sinner was at his clinical best as he successfully defended his Wimbledon title with a tense four-set victory over French Open champion Alexander Zverev in Sunday's final.

The opening set lasted more than an hour and was decided by a tiebreak, with Zverev edging it 7-6(9-7).

The drama continued in the second set, which Sinner claimed 7-6(7-2) in another tiebreak. The Italian then took control of the match, winning the third set 6-3 before sealing victory with a 6-4 scoreline in the fourth.

Sinner successfully defended the Wimbledon title he won in 2025, claiming his fifth Grand Slam crown. His major titles include back-to-back Australian Open triumphs in 2024 and 2025, the 2024 US Open, and consecutive Wimbledon titles in 2025 and 2026.
