Portugal seek Group K victory over Colombia to secure first place
Portugal will aim to finish top of Group K when they take on leaders Colombia in their final World Cup group-stage match in Miami on Saturday.
Only a victory will allow Roberto Martinez's side to leapfrog Colombia and claim first place, potentially setting up a more favourable route through the knockout stages.
Portugal entered the tournament among the favourites but endured a disappointing start after being held to a 1-1 draw by the Democratic Republic of Congo.
However, they responded emphatically in their second outing, defeating Uzbekistan 5-0 with veteran captain Cristiano Ronaldo scoring twice in a dominant display.
Winning the group could prove significant, with the Group K winners set to face a third-placed team in the next round, while the runners-up are likely to meet the second-placed side from Group L, which includes England, Ghana and Croatia.
Despite the potential advantages, Martinez insists his players are focused solely on defeating Colombia.
"The focus is to try to win the game and not think about the next opponent," Martinez said.
"If you want to do well in a tournament, you have to beat anyone and everyone. There's no single right path or position. What matters is that we play at our best, and you can only do that by winning."
Portugal will hope another convincing performance can reinforce their status as one of the tournament favourites as the knockout rounds approach.
