Qatar to host FIFA “The Best” ceremony for second consecutive year
FIFA announced on Sunday that the 2025 edition of The Best Awards ceremony will be held in the Qatar's capital, Doha, on Tuesday, December 16.
Doha will host a special ceremony on the eve of the Intercontinental Cup final between Brazil’s Flamengo and France’s Paris Saint-Germain, during which the world’s best male and female players, as well as standout coaches, will be honored for their achievements in 2025, along with several other awards.
In a statement published on its official website, FIFA said that fans cast more than 16 million votes, playing a pivotal role in selecting the winners across the various categories, particularly the awards for Best Men’s Player and Best Women’s Player in the world.
Several players are competing for the Best Men’s Player award this year, most notably France’s Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain and his Moroccan teammate Achraf Hakimi, Barcelona duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé.
Qatar hosted The Best ceremony last year, which saw Brazil’s Vinícius Júnior of Real Madrid crowned the 2024 Best Men’s Player, while Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona won the Best Women’s Player award.
