UEFA announces Qatar's Lusail Stadium will host the 2026 Finalissima between Argentina and Spain.
Qatar will host the 2026 ‘Finalissima’ as European champions Spain take on Copa America holders Argentina in March next year, UEFA announced on Thursday.
Lionel Messi’s Argentina outclassed Italy 3-0 in the 2022 edition and will return to the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, where they were crowned world champions three years ago.
The match will be played on March 27, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00pm local time. Spain and Argentina have met 14 times previously, with both sides recording six wins apiece.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: "This match symbolises the unification of two footballing continents and showcases the global reach of our sport in such a prestigious fixture. We look forward to an unforgettable evening of elite football and international celebration."
CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez added: "This showpiece game is more than a competition, it is a symbol of collaboration and respect between confederations, and an opportunity for fans to enjoy a truly historic occasion."
