A Spiritual Reset Fuels His Return

Beyond the wins piling up inside the ring, Dedduanglek recently completed a deeply personal milestone: a period of ordination as a Buddhist monk, a tradition considered essential in many Thai men's lives.

The experience left him centered and clear-headed heading into his biggest fight of the year.

"I was ordained for nine days to make merit for my parents. It was something I had planned for a long time, as it's a major milestone in a man's life. Being under the saffron robe made me feel truly at peace. The head monk taught me meditation and how to calm my mind, which helped me relax immensely," the 23-year-old fighter said.

"Now that I'm disrobed, I'm fully ready to fight for my family and myself to give the people behind me a better life. I'm completely focused on my career moving forward."

Revisiting The Rivalry That Started It All

The first test begins with an old rival at ONE Friday Fights 167.

Dedduanglek and Kongsuk Sitsarawatsuer first collided in September 2023, with the recently ordained Buddhist monk walking away with a unanimous decision victory.

In the years that followed, both men have traveled different paths filled with ups and downs, but fate has brought them back together, with each fighter now riding a two-bout winning streak into their long-awaited sequel.

"In our first fight, given his pedigree and experience, many people viewed me as the underdog and didn't think I could beat Kongsuk. Stepping into that ring and walking away with the victory made me really proud, and everyone praised my performance," Dedduanglek said.

"That fight earned me the nickname '5G Kicks' because I landed my kicks cleanly, which played a huge role in securing the win. That was my fourth consecutive win at the time, and it handed Kongsuk his first loss in the promotion."

A Rematch With Serious Stakes On Both Sides

Neither man can afford to slip up this time around. Dedduanglek has no interest in losing his momentum and eyes his 60th career victory, while his Thai compatriot remains firmly in pursuit of his own life-changing US$100,000 contract and a permanent spot on ONE Championship's global roster.

Kongsuk – a two-time Lumpinee Stadium World Champion – enters the bantamweight Muay Thai clash dangerous in his own right, riding back-to-back knockout victories that have reestablished him as a contract-worthy contender.

Still, Dedduanglek believes his own tools remain the deciding factor.

"I am 100 percent confident I will get the job done again so that the result is definitive and we won't need a trilogy fight," Dedduanglek said. "My signature weapon remains my kicks, which I'll use to seal another win over Kongsuk, but this time with more finishing power because I want to get the stoppage and leave zero doubts."
