WTA Rankings: The Ladies Are on the Move!
After Wimbledon surprises there's been lots of activity in this week's rankings

The grass-court season is over for another year and the latest rankings update makes happy reading for a couple of players who enjoyed impressive campaigns on the surface. Garbiñe Muguruza jumps up 10 places to No.5 after overcoming Venus Williams in the Wimbledon final, while Johanna Konta's run to the semifinal in south London makes her another significant mover, the Briton jumping up three places to fourth.
Karolina Pliskova has her ascent to world No. 1 confirmed taking the place of Angelique Kerber. The Czech, 25, moves up two places to become the 23rd player to hold top spot, after Simona Halep's quarterfinal defeat to Konta last week ended the Romanian's hopes - for now - of reaching the peak, while confirming Pliskova's rise. Pliskova has three title successes this year - in Brisbane, Doha and Eastbourne - and made the semifinals at last month's French Open.
Kerber, beaten by eventual champion Muguruza at SW19, drops to third after 34 non-consecutive weeks at No.1, with Halep remaining between Pliskova and the German in second place.
Here are other notable movers this week.:
Venus Williams (+2, No.11 to No.9): The 37-year-old rose two places, swapping places with Dominika Cibulkova following her run to the final at Wimbledon last week, where she was beaten by Muguruza.
Ana Konjuh (+7, No.29 to No.22): Croatian teenager made the second biggest rise inside the top 30, following her reaching of the last sixteen in Wimbledon. That came after a semifinal appearance at 's-Hertogenbosch and a quarterfinal in Mallorca.
Shuai Peng (+7, No.37 to No.30): Matched Konjuh's jump, rising into the top 30. Made the last-16 in Eastbourne before losing to Halep in the last 32 at Wimbledon.
Magdalena Rybarikova (+54, No.87 to No.33): One of many surprises at Wimbledon, the Slovak's run to the semifinals including the beating of new No.1 Pliskova in the second round. That came after successes at Ilkley and Surbiton and a semifinal in Nottingham at the Aegon Open.
Heather Watson (+23, to No.102 to No.79): Briton re-entered the top 100 with a sizable jump, having pushed Victoria Azarenka to three sets in their last-32 match at Wimbledon after also making the semifinals in Eastbourne the previous month.
