Argentina captain Daniel Orsanic lauded Juan Martin del Potro and Federico Delbonis after the duo ended their country's long wait for a first Davis Cup title to spark jubilant celebrations.
A sizeable contingent of Argentina supporters in Zagreb, including footballing great Diego Maradona, were left ecstatic as Delbonis eased past Ivo Karlovic in Sunday's fifth and final rubber, sealing a 3-2 victory over Croatia.
Del Potro had earlier produced a phenomenal comeback, recovering from two sets down to beat Marin Cilic in an enthralling contest that spanned four hours, 53 minutes.
Four previous final appearances for Argentina - in 1981, 2006, 2008 and 2011 - had ended in defeat, making this victory extra special for the South American nation.
"The guys were amazing today," said a delighted Orsanic in a court-side interview.
"Juan Martin had an incredible match and Fede played the best match of his life at the best moment.
"I feel like we did what we had to do. I dreamed for it so many times."
Commenting specifically on Del Potro's stunning success, which left the former US Open champion on the verge of tears, Orsanic added: "His comeback is the comeback of the history - it's the comeback of the Davis Cup.
"He's a genius. His heart is so big."
Delbonis made sure Del Potro's efforts were not in vain, the former triumphing in straight sets.
"He was on top of every ball; he played a perfect match," said Orsanic of the world number 41.
"I'm surprised, in a good way, that he could win so easily. It's a privilege to be with this group."
