Beaubier Survives Nightmare Scenario To Repeat as MotoAmerica SBK Champ
Cameron Beaubier's worst nightmares nearly came true but at the end of the day, he was crowned back-to-back MotoAmerica Superbike champion.

For Cameron Beaubier, the mission going into the MotoAmerica season finale seemed simple enough; just nurse his Monster Energy Graves Yamaha YZF-R1M around the track, collect a handful of points, and he would repeat as MotoAmerica Superbike champion.
And to that plan, Beaubier rode relatively conservatively in the morning Superbike final at New Jersey Motorsport Park en route to a fourth-place finish. After that, all he effectively needed to do was avoid the double disaster of a DNF and Josh Hayes victory.
The first-part of that nightmare scenario clicked into place at mid-distance when his R1's motor gave up on him at the most inopportune time. At that point, he could only watch helplessly as the race at the front took shape.
On this day, those aggressive Yoshimura Suzukis of Toni Elias and Roger Hayden that had given him and his team fits on multiple occasions became his best friends. Elias and Hayden battled it out for the win while Hayes was similarly helpless, albeit on track, a couple seconds back in third and unable to make up the distance needed to earn him a fifth Superbike crown.
On the final lap, Elias fended off a bold maneuver from Hayden to secure his sixth win of the season. Hayden, who earned his second win of the year earlier in the day, came home the runner-up.
Hayes came home third and six points back of Beaubier in the 2016 points race.
Bobby Fong doubled in the Superstock class, running with the leading Superbikes early in Race 2. The Latus Motors Kawasaki pilot even managed to throw down the fastest lap of the race.
Beach Wins Seventh Straight Supersport Contest, Gerloff Takes the Crown
Y.E.S. Graves Yamaha's Garrett Gerloff did exactly what he needed to do, sealing the 2016 MotoAmerica Supersport championship by a narrow four-part margin with a measured second-place performance on Sunday.
Gerloff came out swinging as the season got underway while teammate and reigning class champion, JD Beach, struggled to find his way. Beach finally turned it on and proved unstoppable, storming to seven consecutive wins to finish out the year.
However, that incredible title repeat bid ultimately fell just short.
M4 Suzuki's Valentine Debise concluded the replication of Saturday's 1-2-3, although not without some drama. The Frenchman suffered through a couple early moments and feared to have a serious issue with either his bike or tires and slowed severely. After falling well back in sixth, Debise fought back up through the field and finally arrived back in third position with some slick dicing through traffic.
Barry Gets His Revenge in KTM Cup Rematch
Jody Barry got his revenge on newly-crowned KTM RC390 Cup champ Brandon Paasch by claiming a hard-earned win in the spec class' season finale.
Paasch secured the title on Saturday by setting Barry up for a drafting maneuver to steal away the win. Barry returned the favor on Sunday with a reversal of fortunes.
While the domestic season is now complete, the KTM championship top three -- Paasch, Anthony Mazziotto III, and Ashton Yates will now advance to the world finals to defend MotoAmerica's honor.
